Conversion rate optimisation: more enquiries from the visitors you already have
Most websites lose good customers between the first click and the enquiry form. Conversion rate optimisation (CRO) finds where that happens and fixes it. We look at how real visitors use your pages, remove the friction that stops them, and measure whether each change brings more enquiries, bookings or sales. Start with an initial 30-minute call.
Why visitors do not enquire
When a site gets visitors but few enquiries, the cause is usually one of a handful of things:
- The page does not answer the question they arrived with. Price, area covered, how it works, how soon you can start.
- The next step is unclear. Too many options, a buried phone number or a button that says “submit”.
- The form asks for too much. Every extra field is another reason to leave.
- Trust is missing at the point of decision. No reviews, no named people, no sign that the business is real and local.
- The page is slow or awkward on a phone, which is where most local searches start.
- Nobody is measuring it, so the same leaks stay open month after month.
How we approach CRO
1. Measure what matters
We start by checking your tracking. If GA4 is not recording enquiries, calls, bookings or checkouts properly, we fix that first. There is no point changing pages if you cannot see the effect.
2. Find the leaks
We look at where visitors drop out: by page, by device and by source. We review recordings and heatmaps where they help, walk through every form and checkout ourselves, and read the pages as a first-time visitor would.
3. Fix the biggest problems first
We rank the issues by how many people they affect and how easy they are to fix. Clearer headlines, simpler forms, better calls to action, faster pages and reassurance in the right place usually come first.
4. Check the result
Each change is recorded with a before and after, so you can see what was changed, when and what happened next. Then we move to the next issue.
Landing pages
A landing page has one job: to turn a specific visitor into a specific enquiry. That matters most when you pay for clicks. Sending ad visitors to your homepage usually wastes budget, because the page was not written for the search they made.
For construction firms and trades, that often means a separate page for each type of job. For a martial arts school, that might be one page for children’s classes and another for adult beginners, each with its own trial booking.
We plan and build landing pages that:
- match the ad or search that brought the visitor
- explain the offer, the area you cover and the next step in plain English
- show proof and reassurance near the form
- keep the form short and send the enquiry straight into your CRM
- are tracked, so you can compare one page or campaign against another
If you run Google Ads or Meta ads, see paid media, where landing pages and lead handling are planned alongside the campaigns.
What you get
- a clear list of the issues we found, ranked by likely impact
- changes made on your site, or a brief your developer can follow
- clean GA4 events for the actions that matter to you
- a plain-English record of each change and what happened after it
- a view on what to fix next
CRO, SEO and automation work together
More visitors only help if they turn into enquiries, and enquiries only help if someone answers them. That is why we often pair CRO with SEO to bring in the right visitors and automation and lead handling so every enquiry gets a quick reply. If the site itself is the problem, a rebuild may be the better route. For shops, the same thinking applies to product pages, baskets and checkout; see ecommerce websites.
